Current Trends in Street Drugs & Prescription Medications

In this full-day training, participants will review the major categories of the substances of abuse, obtain updates on traditional drugs of abuse, and learn about the range of synthetic drugs that are flooding the street. In addition, new Medical Assisted Treatement (MAT) options will be reviewed. This training will utilize large and small group learning activities as well as film vignettes to reinforce the information provided.

Training Objectives:
– To review the traditional drug categories of abuse,
– To explore the difference between substance use versus substance induced disorders related to the drugs of abuse,
– To explore addiction potential as it relates to potency and routes of administration,
– To discuss specific use trends and their impact on varying special populations,
– To review the “new synthetic drugs” that are replacing traditional drugs of abuse,
– To learn best practices MAT options for treatment of substance use disorders

Program Fees:
The member fee is $90 and the nonmember fee is $120 for general registration.
Payment is due in full upon registration and enrollment will not be guaranteed until payment is received.

This training has been approved for 5 Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal.
