Kishshana is the CEO of Kishshana & Co., an organizational development firm focused on helping everyday leaders live well and lead well. Her firm’s work centers on equity and social justice and practical solutions for today’s organizations.

Where Woman Lead, Impact Follows
Over 64% of donations are made by women, reminding us that women make most of the fundraising decisions in the household. And while women are the largest sector employed in the nonprofit industry in America, only 1/3 of all senior and executive leadership positions are held by women and only 36% of women are in board seats in the nonprofit sector. In this workshop, we will explore how women influence impact, how they make and lead philanthropic decisions, and how a community of women cultivated in your organization can fundamentally change your impact.
Social Justice in Supervision
Patricia Wilcox, LCSW and Aminah Ali, LMSW
This workshop focuses on trauma-informed supervision through a social justice lens, an approach to supervision that begins with the personal and extends to the professional. Personal histories, identities, characteristics and psychological experiences of supervisors, as well as structural and environmental conditions of the organization, are considered in supervision. This perspective promotes the role of the supervisor as a leader in establishing a culture within their team that is responsive to and inclusive of the positionalities and unique experiences of clients and colleagues.
Data for Action
Data for action: A workshop to understand current trends in your town and region and apply information to build community and funding partnerships. This interactive panel discussion features DataHaven and statewide leaders from non-profit and philanthropic organizations throughout Connecticut. Attendees will learn from experts about the most current trends in social, economic, and health in Connecticut, and get a first-hand view of how non-profits can use this information to build community and funding partnerships in their area.
What’s next for the nation’s behavioral health system? An update from SAMHSA
Join U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use and the Administrator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D. for a discussion on the direction of the nation’s public health response to mental health and substance abuse issues, including how billions in new funding will be implemented across the country, the new 9-8-8 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and more. Secretary Delphin-Rittmon will give an update on her work and its direction moving forward and will take questions and comments from the audience.

Defining Your Organization's Journey: Making Mission & Vision Actionable
This highly interactive workshop will help leaders reinvigorate staff by building a stronger connection to a clear and compelling Mission and Vision. Participants will be taken on a journey of self-reflection, classroom style learning, dialogue and collaboration with peers, and hands-on practical application. This program will cover principles and tools used in strategic planning, as well as dive deeper into best practices used to engage staff in everyday quality outcomes. Mindfulness from Moment to Moment in the Workplace
Jelan Agnew, LCSW
Using the core principles of mindfulness, trauma informed practices and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, the purpose of this workshop is to discuss mindfulness as a tool for burn-out and compassion fatigue. This workshop will discuss how daily mindfulness can improve productivity and overall mood throughout the day. Often time, the speed of the workday and the overwhelming feelings about tasks can be attributed to focusing too much on the future. This workshop will discuss how mindfulness, from moment to moment, can actually increase the amount that can get done and can improve overall health.
Trends in Strategic Planning: A Panel Discussion
Over the last few years, there have been important shifts in the way organizations and the consultants who support them are developing organizational strategic plans. From ensuring the inclusion and centering of client and community voices to the use of technology to increase participation and improve communication, Anne Yurasek, Principal of Fio Partners will share and explore these trends and share practical options and considerations for designing and implementing strategic planning efforts.
