“We thank the Planning and Development Committee for today’s vote to advance legislation that would help protect nonprofits from wrongful property tax assessment.
“Nonprofit organizations across the state have had their tax-exempt status challenged recently by local assessors, with significant and troubling financial implications. This bill would not expand or create tax exemptions, but would clarify existing law. We look forward to working with the committee’s leaders and others to make sure that funds intended for people served by nonprofits go to the services they need.”
