Statement from Gian Carl Casa, President & CEO of CT Community Nonprofit Alliance:

“The infusion of new funding in the nonprofit sector included in the budget given final approval today by the Senate, is significant and unprecedented and begins to address more than a decade of underfunding.

“We thank the Appropriations Chairs and all of the members of the legislature who have given their continuing support for a long term, seven-year commitment to people who rely on nonprofits. With their support, we hope to restore more than $461 million in lost funds.

“However, the budget pays for the group home strike settlement with funds that had been targeted for all nonprofit providers. Given the state’s historic and strong fiscal position, we urge  the legislature and the Governor to support implementation that will be equitable for all of the state’s nonprofit community providers and the people they serve.”
