Statement from Gian-Carl Casa, President and CEO of CT Community Nonprofit Alliance on two items on the next State Bond Commission Agenda released today (Items 7 & 21):

“On behalf of the Alliance and the half-million people who rely on their services and programs, we thank Governor Malloy for putting $30 million on the State Bond Commission agenda for the Nonprofit Grant Program that will provide much-needed capital for infrastructure improvements.

“The Governor created this program and he and the General Assembly have consistently supported it and authorizations for funding. If approved, the program will have provided $155 million to Connecticut’s community nonprofits since its passage in 2013.

“By allowing for infrastructure improvements, community nonprofits will be better able to provide the most cost-effective, quality services. While replenishing the Nonprofit Grant Program does not solve the systemic funding problems, it is an essential resource for community nonprofits in an era of diminishing resources. It is also a great example of the state and nonprofit sector working in partnership. We urge members of the Bond Commission to support his recommendation.”
