Statement from Gian-Carl Casa, President & CEO of CT Community Nonprofit Alliance on Governor Lamont’s recent announcement of contract settlements with unions representing state employees and personal care assistants.

“Connecticut’s community nonprofits contract with the state to provide the bulk of the state’s human services, and their employees are direct caregivers and a vital part of the state’s service-delivery system. But nonprofits are so chronically underfunded that their buying power is 32 percent behind where it was in 2007.

“We hope that a final budget agreement will include increases in funding for those financially stretched nonprofit providers and their hard-working employees, who also deserve a funding increase.”
